Recognizing excellence in all areas of design enterprise, the Core77 Design Awards annually celebrates the richness of the design profession as well as the insight and perseverance of its practitioners. This year, we are proud to announce that our work with Codetta took home the winning prize of the Commercial & Industrial Equipment category, with the Pendar M1 Microscope as the runner up!

A massive thank you to the Core77 jury and organizers for recognizing the dedication, creativity, and strategic design thinking poured into these projects in their evaluation of all the entries.

Here’s a glimpse into the award-winning projects:

Codetta Bio Concerto Platform

By unifying digital PCR, real-time PCR, and immunoPCR into a single, high-throughput system, Loft Design partnered with Codetta Bio to develop the Concerto™ platform: an integrated solution to the fragmented, siloed workflows that frequently slow scientific discovery.

Laboratories traditionally rely on separate technologies for nucleic acid and protein detection, creating inefficiencies, increasing error risks, and exhausting precious bench space. Guided by human-centered research insights, the Concerto™ platform combines Codetta Bio’s Prelude™ sample preparation workflow with a custom touchscreen interface to enable the simultaneous measurement of DNA, RNA, and protein biomarkers from a single sample. By consolidating these traditionally disparate methods into a seamless, end-to-end experience, the platform streamlines complex analyses, lowers operational overhead, and minimizes physical footprint all while maintaining uncompromising sensitivity and precision to accelerate scalable research outcomes.

Pendar M1, Automated Portable Raman Microscope

The M1 Automated Portable Raman Microscope is an automated Raman-based detection system that enables rapid, reliable chemical analysis with minimal sample preparation and easy field deployment. Designed for professional markets including security, forensic, and defense, the system bridges the gap between laboratory instruments and field-ready tools, allowing untrained users to safely analyze narcotics, explosives, chemical agents, and other hazards.

Designing anything meaningful requires an incredible amount of trust, which is why to us, these awards validate more than just the end product: they celebrate the diverse skills that our team brings to the table every day with a shared goal to design with purpose.

This achievement belongs entirely to our incredibly talented team, whose hard work continuously raises the bar, and to our clients who trust us to transform bold dreams and ideas into reality. As we look ahead, Loft remains dedicated to pushing creative boundaries and crafting purposeful design solutions that elevate the human experience.

This realization has led her to focus on developing products and experiences that evolve with the user while remaining empathetic to how they can improve lives. As an industrial designer, Saloni is passionate about bringing together design, engineering, and business to tackle some of the most pressing challenges around us. She has worked in a variety of fields, including social innovation, healthcare, sustainable product development, and consumer products.

Prior to Loft, Saloni got her master’s degree at MIT where she saw how the design process can be a key component to bring state-of-the-art solutions can to life. Her work at MIT ranged from conducting user research in zero gravity to make space more inclusive at the Media Lab, developing accessible pregnancy tests for people with vision impairments, and measuring the body's hydration levels at the Gray lab, IMES.
