We'll start off with a panel discussion to explore topics ranging from ergonomic design to user-friendly interfaces, accessibility, and regulatory compliance. Connect with fellow industry professionals to delve into the best practices in UX and Human Factors in Industrial Design.

About the Panelists:

Alex Tan, Design Innovation Director, Philips Design

Alex is a visionary thinker and leader with a diverse background that spans across many industries and design disciplines. His leadership style is very hands-on; he leads through example and inspiration. Alex enjoys rolling up his sleeves to work together with the team, whether it is setting the vision, sketching ideas, conducting field research or doing 3D modeling or occasional coding. He is always curious and eager to learn new skills. Alex believes a good design leader should be well-versed in the craft of design.

Jeremy Van Hill, Johnson & Johnson

Jeremy Van Hill is an Innovation Strategist and award-winning designer dedicated to creating meaningful, user-centered solutions that improve lives. With over a decade of experience in industrial and UI design, he has contributed to a wide range of consumer, commercial, and medical products. His work in med-tech spans revolutionary Class III surgical devices and large-scale connected health platforms valued in the millions.Jeremy’s design philosophy centers on deep user understanding, ensuring that every functional and emotional element of a product is thoughtfully considered. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His achievements have been recognized with prestigious awards, including Time Magazine’s Most Amazing Inventions (2005, 2009), the Chicago Housewares Design Award, the Excellence in Design Silver Award, and CES Design Showcase Honors. Jeremy also holds six patents, a testament to his innovative contributions across multiple industries.With a passion for leading teams and leveraging insights to drive impactful solutions, Jeremy continues to shape the future of design in healthcare and beyond.

In her research and design work, Saloni believes that products aren't discarded because they have no value; rather, they're replaced because they fail to keep up with people and their needs. This realization has led her to focus on developing products and experiences that evolve with the user while remaining empathetic to how they can improve lives.As an industrial designer, Saloni is passionate about bringing together design, engineering, and business to tackle some of the most pressing challenges around us. She has worked in a variety of fields, including social innovation, healthcare, sustainable product development, and consumer products.

Prior to Loft, Saloni got her master’s degree at MIT where she saw how the design process can be a key component to bring state-of-the-art solutions can to life. Her work at MIT ranged from conducting user research in zero gravity to make space more inclusive at the Media Lab, developing accessible pregnancy tests for people with vision impairments, and measuring the body's hydration levels at the Gray lab, IMES.
