Challenge

Kids spend excessive time in digital environments. Reducing screen time and promoting real-world interactive play can significantly benefit developmental progress, particularly during the critical early cognitive years. Today's screen-based games limit sensory experiences and hinder interpersonal skills, hindering cognitive and emotional growth. Engaging in physical activities that require direct environmental interaction helps children develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. This approach also fosters stronger social bonds as children learn to communicate, collaborate, and understand different perspectives through real-life interactions.

Solution

Macy's Geoffrey's Toy Box partnered with Loft to reinvent building blocks with a monster twist. The creative team developed a monster-themed building set featuring 100 pieces that can construct entire cities of monster characters. These blocks are highly valued for their ability to entertain while simultaneously fostering crucial cognitive, motor, and social skills. By engaging young children in playful yet meaningful activities, the set helps kids develop essential life skills enjoyably and engagingly. It serves as an excellent tool for nurturing innovative gameplay and open-ended creative sessions.

Outcome

Mix and match eyes, mouths, and heads to create unique monster creations, enhancing playtime with endless customization possibilities. The monster play kit, along with other items, helped Macy's craft a wholesome experience reminiscent of creative toy retailers, featuring an extensive selection of educational products and collectible merchandise. Crafted from high-quality solid wood, these sturdy blocks are built to last, providing safe and long-lasting fun for young builders aged 3 and up.

Open Sandbox

Creativity knows no bounds with these versatile building blocks. Interacting with these building blocks, kids can invent and act out a wide variety of play narratives while building monstrous cityscapes with a myriad of characters and personalities. Endless possibilities exist to create all kinds of monster characters and engage in various role-plays while constructing elaborate monster cities.

Unlimited Possibilities

This isn't your grandfather's block set. The design team created a monster-themed collection with unlimited opportunities. Children can create their favorite characters with endless possibilities. This self-directed play builds confidence, independence, and executive function skills while fostering genuine creativity that extends far beyond the building blocks themselves.
